in the studio : May

It's been difficult to concentrate on making new work while my show has been happening. Everything I have been doing has been in support of the show —telling people about the drawings writing and telling people about the work — being immersed in the drawings.

It's hard to be in the present when all you do is talk about the past.

So, while the show was hanging I spent a good amount of time clearing both the physical and the mental space to make new work. I rearranged the studio and organized my supplies a bit differently. I put my name on the door. Swept and mopped the floors. I spent time anticipating making new work.

But now the show is over. I've packed up my drawings and I'll be taking them back to my studio on tuesday, Then the new work can begin. I have no idea what the work will be but I know that my heart and my mind are open to new possibilities.
