studio

Working on a series of new drawings. These are the some of the objects that are defining the landscape. I'm drawing at home and downtown lately because the art studio is inhospitable. I can get alot more work done when I don;t drip sweat on the paper.

I'm hoping to have a dozen drawings completed by end of next week. They are coming along well. They use the cosmic strings approach.

My first day in the studio in weeks. I spent most of the time just cleaning up the dirt that covers the place when the BIG fans go on. The fans ran all day while I was there. I cleaned, organized some work.

I unwrapped some framed pieces that had come back from the All About Trees show; looking for where they could reside next. I drank so much water one would think I would float away. I have a thermometer to check the temp so I don't become oblivious and forget to hydrate.

heat

As you may have noticed there was a flurry if activity at the end of May. But June has been too HOT to work. I have tried to be in my studio. I just can't do it. Last weekend I went in to show some work to another artist and you just couldn't be in the space. It was 80 degrees inside at 8 am and I'm on the second floor.

Don't be fooled by the lows... that's with 80 percent humidity.

I just can't work in that heat. I sweat on the paper. Ick. And the humidity curls everything up.

new large work

A quick shot of a group of horizontal drawings. Two of the drawings are from the winter and a new series of spring drawings was started before I got sick. I haven't been able to get into the studio for over two weeks. I had this thing that kept me in bed. March blew by and April hasn't been nearly as productive as I had hoped.

Things have been a bit slow in the studio. I have been working on some new technology projects and haven't had as much time in the studio as I would like. February even with its 29 days this year didn't seem long enough.

a bevy of sketchbooks

This is how warm the light is in my studio these days. This leaf fell from one of the plants that keeps me company in my studio. It landed on my pile of fabriano sketchbooks. Lots of small sketching and framing going on for some shows I hope to have my work in…

cosmic threads

This is one of the new drawings I've been working on in January. There are three that are complete. This being the first. These are are cosmology drawings in a more structured way. These bridge the space between cosmic dust and threads of a state of being. The waist grounded to this earth.

pano of the studio

This is a pano I pieced together. Wanted to get a shot of the studio for the beginning of the new year. any drawings in progress. Big drawings. Some are 32 x 44 and some are 22 x 32. Oh in inches.

I cleaned everything up after this shot and a series from the opposite direction. Three of the drawings are now finished. I have to manage putting some of the drawings in flat storage.

writing personal notes

Here's a shot of Margaret writing a note in the solstice cards. The drawing looked terrific. We were very pleased with the outcome. It's making me think about doing a series or two. These and the letterpress pieces could be great fun and hopefully fund the making of some more art.

Limited edition.
