Adirondack trip: Drawing in the mountains

Drawing on the deck in the mountains

I settled in to make some new work on the deck looking out to the lake. It was the only day that I was out from under cover.

The weather was question mark each day.

i was able to spread out and make a couple large drawings but made many more small ones. I always had to be prepared to dash under cover. There were also pretty windy afternoons.

The drawing pictured here was completed and a couple that I started will be finished in the studio. The impressions from the stay are still quite vivid even with the city pounding at my once quiet mind.

It was the first time in many visits tha the autumnal change was visible with vivid reds and yellows beginning. The small sketches of those colors will make it into new drawings.

So many impressions captured in sketches and lying in wait to be made into something larger.
