First look, new drawings winter twins.

Had a full day working in the studio last week. This is a first look at a new series of ten drawings — winter twins. The drawings are meditations and impressions of the season. Often at this time of year my drawings become mostly black and white. The drawings are minimal. I don't have much more to say right now; I'm still working on them and I don't want to think.

It is important to keep my head clear and trust the process. Keeping that place between sessions of drawings means I can't talk about them. I can't until they are finished.

In the studio : January

It was good to get in the studio. There is a calmness and sense of purpose in wiping down all my work surfaces and assembling my drawing supplies and tools.

Selecting the paper.

Placing containers of graphite, pastels, and charcoal on the work table.

Now in silence waiting. Waiting to begin.

Exhibition : deepening wood and salamander darts

I'll be showing deepening wood and salamander darts in the 3rd Street Gallery Invitational Show. I hope you can make the reception. If not please take the time to see the exhibition sometime in the month of January. These are two pieces in a series of four on synthetic paper. Thrilled to have been invited!

in the studio : august 2010

Happy to get some time in the studio again this weekend. It was al because of my hard ware not arriving for my framing for Oregon in Songlines. More about that in another post. It was a bit difficult to get focused while all I could think about was framing and shipping and my little book if I can get that ready too,
