I was intrigued by the { following 2.0 } project at many levels. Not the least of which was my twitter handle : stellth. Stellth is one side of me. Stellth is a silent observer, an investigator, a documenter. Stellth is unseen.

Being an observer is essential to stimulating the imagination. Observation and imagination were key to my process in this piece.

When the winter comes the long hours of darkness bring an additional chill. Each winter my drawings look for the light. Drawing that embrace the chill. Each year I toy with the idea of creating illuminated drawings.

This year I have begun seriously making some three dimensional models to determine what kind of papers I'll need to sustain the shapes that I want. What translucency sheets provide for particular lighting options.

My goal is to fill a space with these lanterns of a kind that a scribed and marked with a vocabulary of inked marks and scratches.

Four new works in progress. The first drawings in the new studio. Very close to finished. I needed to step away for a bit. Excited to be productive in the new space.

These are drawings on black paper. They started with a grid and a layer of colored pencil first. Many soft pastel marks. No erasing as usual - just obliteration. Not really sure where the red came from. I think the paper was really calling for the energy.

Finally art is making its way onto the drawing walls! Five small drawings that I started work on and I have a sixth. They like the new space. In the right corner of the shot is Bramble Ramble recently show at 3rd Street Gallery.

I'm finding drawing supplies that will go with me on the trip to the woods. Now I can actually find my stuff. I expect to be ready for Open Studios. (A new post on that soon.) It's starting to feel and look like my studio. I'll be away for a bit. No new posts until I return from the cell and technology free zone.

What an amazing day today at 1241.

Having the studio here is so exciting! Spent the whole holiday constructing. This is the view while eating some yogurt and several glasses of water. Construction images to come soon. In the meantime enjoy the view.

Got the keys and went over to check out the space. Finally. Can't wait to get started moving in! Begins this weekend.

Some sketches for new drawings. Have done some additional mark tests to determine choices of paper and medium. Looking forward to being able to get into the studio again.
