Experimentation without concern about outcome in any sense of the word can be messy. But one little mark, one little interaction can present itself as a new vocabulary.

All I could think of was steel wool and sharp little washers. It all became itchy.

Sorta got loopy

In the studio today. I have been working on these drawings on and off for a while now. They always seem almost there. I took six that I had that feel closest to finished and worked on them. This is a little detail shot.

Strange. This came after all those scribble drawings. Something energetic and contained. Simple. Black and red, the only thing simpler is black or hueless scratching.

Some chaos here.
But it helped clear my head. Making some very compressed motions and see what results.

A quieter moment. What would it be like to restrain the number of marks I could make? Yes, this is what it would look like.

Again drawing with abandon. This time controlling the number of tools. Mostly scribbling wildly. I may have to put this on the list again to draw over and see what happens.
