rhythm

in the studio : August 2012, series continues.

I've started on a second drawing in this series. I was surprised by the ease with which I was able to draw the marks this time. Maybe it had something to do with the humidity. Maybe it was me.

I did the drawing taped to a cardboard surface. Love the result of the drawing transparency on the cardboard surface. It made me think about the presentation of the drawing in a way that is different from any way than I had originally imagined. The thing about the Yupo Synthetic paper is that it can come into contact with a surface like cardboard and it wouldn't damage the drawing.

Loving making blunt marks. They are like using a metal brush or a carpenters pencil. I'm looking at how these could be combined in some of the drawings I'm experimenting with now.

I have always made these marks with pastels and graphite. Now I'm looking to make them with ink. The thing is making a tool so that the marks don't deteriorate too much. I have always loved the deterioration in my other drawings but I'm trying some marks that can stay true in these new pieces.

rhythm one sold.

Thrilled that I've sold this drawing.

It's one of a small series. This was shown in my solo show in 2010. It's a drawing using pastel, pencil,  graphite, and charcoal on Rives BFK. It's one of my larger drawings at  30 x 40 inches, was created 2008, and first shown in 2010.
