I've been working on our winter solstice cards for Stellarvisions. This is the first time in over a decade that the card will be art or a reproduction of art that I have made. This year the image will be from my cosmology series : cosmic strings. The actual small drawing is done in pencil. The reproduction is on a vellum sheet which is attached to the front of an 80# cream colored smooth sheet.
We had a well attended holiday show this year at sherman mills. The artists of b32 organized a sale and I'm happy to say that I unexpectedly sold one of my small plein air pieces. It was a north country drawing done up at the cabin in 2005. I enjoyed talking with the Ellen the buyer about my process and various works that I had hung for the occasion.
BUY HANDMADE for the holidays.
Support artists and artisans by purchasing handmade and unique works. Skip the malls and support local artists.
I'm going to be in my studio this weekend offering some small works at special prices. You can visit a number of my b32 buddies and some of the other sherman mills artists. Hope to see you.
My studio was neat and ready to go for the POST weekend. It poured for hours and hours on sunday. I'm sure the rain reduced the number of visitors. Kelly drive was closed for a period of time due to flooding. On sunday it was crisp and clear. Turnout was better. More than 150 people visited my studio.
This is a photo of the moo mini cards I have printed for my open studio visitors. Each card is a cropped area of one of my drawings. These are very exciting little things. I'm planning on having lots of little sets. I can give someone a little piece of art when I meet them. I'm currently making my guestbook for the open studio using these cards.
