An indulgence.
Drawing round and round.

I wanted to combine the organic shapes and distinctive repetitive marks.
Many of these marks are from a familiar vocabulary. It’s another effort to see how I can make familiar marks with this set of tools. It took me six months to have a command of the tools to do this.
Now I’m begining to understand how to command the medium more.

I decided to combine some soft marks with some very fine lines that feel like hard pencils.
These are forms that I am quite fond of — here I’ve had the pleasure of starting with soft spreading marks and then defining the space with the wire like scratches.
This is leading me in some new directions too.

Back to some more familiar marks since I started making these #drawingaday pieces.
This drawing is getting back to more experiments that resemble my colored pencil drawings.
This is a bit like a sampler.

Another experiment with organic forms that are soft and smudged.
Again here I’m investigating these marks that feel relaxed and basic repitition. This is another of my drawings that is more like my drawings on paper than an electronic drawing on my iPhone.
Very pleased with the results.

Playing like I’m using my softest of pastels.

Surprise surprise!
This drawing is more like my pastel drawings than any other I have made so far.
It feels soft alot like the chalk has been rubbed around.
I love this for where it is taking me.

Drawing a tornado cage.
Contained energy again.
Enjoying working with some transparent overlays in this drawing. Creating a haze that envelopes the spheres in the center.
I really like where this could lead.

Green.
Green is often very difficult to work with —how the color can dominate my perseption. I don’t often work with greens of lighter value or a pure secondary color.
Somehow these green dots worked perfectly. They add an energy that is singular to that color even in a familiar shape.
This drawing reminds me of things I pick up on walks through the woods or wilder parks. I ofen use those objects to remindme of the energy of the living place they came from.

Obliviate
This drawing is all about energetic scribbling. Drawing with abandon. Marks layer after layer after layer.
The app however lets me create marks on top of other marks without distruction to the marks below. That’s like me using a spray fix or medium that does not break down if it has dried when the same medium is placed over.
I really enjoyed making this one.
I just wanted to scratch the surface with hue after hue.
