I made some vintage buys the other day. One of them was a book of nibs manufactured in the forties. Also picked up a lettering pen. The lovely Walnut Ink was handmade by one of my pals at Artist & Craftsman. What an amazing gift.

Now I'm finding some used papers to make new drawings. One has to be a return gift for the walnut ink.

I spent a full 8 hour day in my studio yesterday. I jumped from one project to another hoping to land on using these new tools. These three marking devices are made of felt. I've been thinking of making some like this for some time. My plan was to buy industrial felt or maybe using chalk erasers to build pens and stamping devices or large pens.

Imagine my surprise when making a studio visit with Justin Bursk he pulls out these as a gift for me.

Just organizing a set of ink tools for a day of work in the studio.

I had decided that I would put some ink to work this day. I didn't know what would happen but I knew my bamboo pen would be where I would start.

I decided to use my syringe tool again. I've use it for gel type things and glues. But recently I have taken ti using it for transparent inks, acrylic inks, and liquid watercolors..

I love this little pen. I used it to make all the dots in the indigo soundings series.

For my last series of drawings I constructed an acetate mask to make the background color fields on which I would place my marks. This was successful and I like that way of creating color fields. But I want to make a different single stroke mark. I could use a brush to do that but it would use too much pigment for the surface I want.

The art studio is almost packed for the move. Much of the supplies are packed in plastic reusable bins. I have photographed the layers so that materials and tools will be easily found. Making for fast unpacking to the shelf walls that will be constructed before the move.
