Had to paint this cardboard wall. Just too dark. Also decided I will keep it now until I can afford to build the sliding wall I have designed. So I laid down a layer of primer.

Completed phase one. Next is a layer of flat white. Brightened the studio up considerably. Next is to get a couple of pulleys to fly up some storage and a pegboard divider. Planning on being in the studio tomorrow. I'll move everything out of the way to do some drawings. Paint later in the week.

The book for my #drawingaday project has a design and I've been making pages. I'm almost current with the drawings I have made. The cover is next on my list. These will be handmade I think since production services like Blurb are too expensive for the quality.

So these maybe either limited edition or made to order or both.

I'm investigating some new things here at my blog.

Working on not being so image centric. I want to get in a place again where I write more about my process. It helps the visual side of my brain.

Please hang in there with me while I make some incremental changes. Let's see where this goes.

Spent a good deal of saturday working on the studio. The configuration is so different from the last space that it is taking time to get to know it. Lots of new drawers and surfaces to store and complete work that I have to figure out what's best for what.

Still trying to figure out how to get the bikes out of the way. I think I have an idea how to hang one and make it work.

Working madly to get my studio ready for POSt (Philadelphia Open Studio Tours). This is crazy since it's a whole new studio. I've been planning, painting, constructing for weeks. Finally. I have a rough and workable plan for the entrance to the space. I'll be reusing two doors from the old design studio.

I love planning spaces. Especially ones that allow me to do my work in comfortable and efficient ways. Each new plan is an adjustment of my preferences. This shows the new position of my glass counter. It gives me my second drawing wall.

Finally got it together to piece my studio survey images together.

This will be the new HQ with weekend art events and some cool experimental installations. The painting will begin when the previous occupant moves out.

Finally got in to do some measuring.

Time now to make some scale objects of furniture that will be moved. The bottom of the image faces North. The colored squares indicate electrical outlets.

This is a new series of posts documenting my process of creating a new studio. The space will serve as a personal art studio. Heavybubble HQ and gallery space. This requires some careful thought. Gathering requirements, physical attributes and needs; all contribute to a successful outcome.
