This drawing was a complete surprise when I made it and it surprises me each time I look at it again.
More like my pastel drawings than the ink of pencil drawings, it inspires me to mix my media a bit more.
My drawings always seem to flow from more to less —chaos to order.
This is one of the more ordered drawings and it uses a subset of the common language in all my drawings.
Often this set of marks has the feeling of weaving or textiles. I’m glad that they do.
A pile of loose debris.
Often I sweep up these little piles on my studio floor and then draw my impressions.
Dead leaves and fine strips of paper like shavings are always finding their way to my studio floor.
Schrubs?
We have these little bushes outside by the sidewalk. These come to mind now — not sure they were in my mind when I drew it.
Funny little elipse of marks.
