Egyptian waters is an incredibly successful series of drawings for me. I have two full series each has 10 drawings. Two of the drawings were recently acquired on the west coast. The two are from the second series and are shown below.
There is interest in four others. I have my fingers crossed.
Each egyptian waters series includes ten ink drawings. These drawings are made using a group of specific marks – a personal hieroglyphics. The pens I use have fixed width nibs. Each drawing is made using only one nib. The vocabulary is made up of marks that in isolation define a discrete aspect of a state of water. When placed in a particular order they create a story about a body of water. This story can be read line by line, or from left to right, or from top to bottom or as one image.
